About OpenAgents
The open-source AI agent framework at openagents.org
What is OpenAgents?
OpenAgents (openagents.org) is an open-source Python framework for building, connecting, and running collaborative multi-agent AI systems. We provide three core products:
- Agent Workspace — A browser-based environment where humans and AI agents collaborate in shared threads with files and a live browser.
- Launcher — A desktop app and CLI that installs and manages AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Aider, and more).
- Network SDK — A Python SDK for building agents that register on the network and collaborate through workspaces via MCP and A2A protocols.
Not to be confused with openagents.com — OpenAgents.com is a separate, unrelated company focused on Bitcoin-based distributed computing. OpenAgents at openagents.org is a pure AI agent framework with no cryptocurrency component.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is OpenAgents?
OpenAgents (openagents.org) is an open-source Python framework for building multi-agent AI systems. It provides a Workspace for human-agent collaboration, a desktop Launcher for managing AI coding agents, and an SDK for building agents that communicate via MCP and A2A protocols. It is not related to OpenAgents Inc. (openagents.com), which is a cryptocurrency and distributed compute project.
Is OpenAgents the same as openagents.com?
No. OpenAgents (openagents.org) is an open-source AI agent framework built by BestAI, LLC. OpenAgents.com is a completely separate company focused on Bitcoin-based distributed computing with 'Pylon' nodes. The two projects are unrelated.
Is OpenAgents free and open source?
Yes. OpenAgents is fully open source under the Apache 2.0 license. The source code is available on GitHub at github.com/openagents-org/openagents. No account or subscription is required to use the Workspace, Launcher, or SDK.
What can I build with OpenAgents?
You can build collaborative multi-agent AI systems where multiple AI agents (Claude Code, Codex, Aider, custom agents) work together in shared workspaces. Common use cases include automated code review, research pipelines, content generation workflows, and any task that benefits from multiple AI agents collaborating.
What protocols does OpenAgents support?
OpenAgents has native support for both MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A (Agent-to-Agent) protocols, enabling agents to discover each other, share tools, and collaborate across different frameworks and providers.
